About CAUDIT, and ACODE CAUDIT ( HYPERLINK "http://www.caudit.edu.au" www.caudit.edu.au) The HYPERLINK "http://www.caudit.edu.au/caudit/information/99strategic.html" \l "mission" mission of the Council of the Australian University Directors of Information Technology (CAUDIT) is to promote and advance the use and support of information technology in teaching and learning, research and administration in the Universities of Australia and New Zealand through the competent management of IT services and the education of their clients. (http:// HYPERLINK "http://www.caul.edu.au" www.caul.edu.au ) is dedicated to improving access by the students and staff of Australian universities to the scholarly information resources that are fundamental to the advancement of teaching, learning and research. The HYPERLINK "http://www.caul.edu.au/caul-doc/strpln2001.doc" strategic plan emphasises collaborative activities which will contribute to the achievement of key objectives including: Maximising access to information resources and services; Transforming the current scholarly communication system; Promoting continuous improvement in university libraries; and Advocating effective policies and an appropriate legal and regulatory environment. ACODE ( HYPERLINK "http://ncode.mq.edu.au/about.htm" http://ncode.mq.edu.au/about.htm ) As an organisation of Australasian universities, ACODEs mission is to enhance policy and practice in open, distance, flexible and e-learning in higher education by: Disseminating and sharing knowledge and expertise; Supporting professional development and providing networking opportunities; Investigating, developing and evaluating new approaches; Advising and influencing key bodies in higher education; and Promoting best practice. Mutual Benefits to be derived through the Alliance Through providing scholarly and administrative information and learning and teaching services and resources to a shared national constituency, CAUDIT, and ACODE have identified some key synergies and therefore seek mutual benefits for their respective organisations. These benefits include: Increased influence on policy and practice in higher education at national, regional and local levels; More effective use of resources; and More informed decision making using shared information and expertise. The ultimate beneficiaries of this alliance will be the staff and students of the member institutions. Mechanisms for Collaboration To achieve these benefits, CAUDIT, and ACODE agree to: Exchange relevant information and data; Share expertise; Undertake cooperative projects; Develop joint submissions, when appropriate, to government enquiries and funding bodies; and Mutually promote activities such as workshops. 5. Cooperative Activities 2003-2004 CAUDIT, and ACODE agree to actively seek ways to jointly contribute to and derive member benefits from collaborative activities that can include, but are not limited to the following: Jointly organising and supporting the biennial EDUCAUSE in Australasia Conference; Investigating areas of common interest such as: - Knowledge management; - Information literacy and - Staff development; Agreeing on approaches to practices and standards which apply in common to the three groups; Collaborating and providing mutual support on national programs of common interest; and Conducting joint workshops for university staff. 6. The Executives of CAUDIT, and ACODE will have an annual face to face meeting for the purpose of information sharing and identifying projects and other activities of mutual benefit. The Chairs of CAUDIT, and ACODE will each nominate an officer who will be responsible for the administration of day to day activities to fulfil the agreement.
